Elam Blackwell, International Thespian Officer & State Thespian Officer
Elam Blackwell comes from Sugar Land TX, Troupe #4385 at Kempner High School. He serves as president of his troupe, an International Thespian Officer, and as an STO!
He loves all things theatre, and arts. His favorite roles include The Dentist from Little Shop of Horrors, The Cat in the Hat from Seussical, and Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird. He is super excited to be serving as an STO this year, and he can't wait for Festival!
The International Thespian Officers are elected by their peers to serve as the voice of the student membership of the International Thespian Society. The ITO bring the needs of Thespians and ideas regarding policy and service changes to the Educational Theatre Association's governing board. They also provide leadership training, run workshops, sponsor student-oriented functions, and raise funds at the state and national levels.
Coming to you from G.W Carver’s troupe 6753 Ahreaile Holly is extremely excited to be serving as one of your 2017 State Thespian Officers. Ahreaile is a member of the graduating class of 2018, and can be found either in the scene shop painting or alongside stage left with prompt book in hand. She believes that being involved in the arts is a life changing experience that everyone should partake in, and can't wait to experience theatre with you guys at Thespian Festival. Aleis Work is over the moon (if you can believe it), to serve as one of your 2017 State Thespian Officers, and is most excellently excited for this amazing opportunity to showcase every single one of your incredible high schools! She is president of Troupe 7646 of Vista Ridge High School, graduating class of 2019. When she's NOT in the theatre room, you can find her in the nearest game and comic store, or at a movie theatre, or working on your latest Thespian festival!
Aurora Cutright is above and beyond excited to be one of your 2017 State Thespian Officers. She is so ecstatic to hopefully take theatre advocation in Texas to a whole new level with the help of all Texas troupes and thespians. Aurora is currently a Sophomore at Port Neches Groves High School troupe 5243 and can't wait to see you all at Texas Thespian Festival 2017!
Carson Cook is immensely honored and thankful for getting to serve as one of your State Thespian Officers this term. Carson is attending McKinney Boyd High School, Troupe 7052, and will be graduating in 2018. He enjoys spending his time operating both the technical and acting sides of theatre. He hopes to late in life pursue Theatre Education. Until then, he has been given the honor to work with the rest of the STO’s to make state an amazing experience for everyone in Texas.
Carson Zoch is a Junior at Cypress Ridge High School Troupe #6641! He is completely overjoyed and excited at the fact that he will be able to serve as a 2017-2018 Texas State Thespian Officer. He has played roles such as Danny Zuko in Grease, Oliver Warbucks in Annie, and many others. He loves to act and do lighting design, and when he is not in the theatre you can find him playing guitar/piano, singing, or just loving America. He hopes that in the future he can be involved with theatre professionally. He is in love with theatre and cannot wait to see everyone at the 2017 Texas Thespian Festival.
Corbin Hill has no words to describe how excited and honored he feels to be serving as a 2017-2018 Texas State Thespian Officer. He is currently a member of Troupe 3359. Going into his senior year, and his third year of theatre and primarily acting. So far, he has been in multiple shows, some include, The Bridegroom of Blowing Rock in the role of Jacob, Annie Jr. in the role of Rooster and most recently, The Scottish Tragedy in the role of Banquo. In his free time he enjoys playing guitar and practicing freestyle rapping. He is so excited to meet with other Thespians and experience this upcoming festival alongside them.
“If asked what phrase I would use to describe my life, I would respond with "success is a journey, not a destination" because it is true in every situation. I am Destiny Sailors, member of troupe 7665 in Pottsboro, Texas. I spend my time serving Jesus, hanging out with friends, taking pictures, and doing calligraphy. My theatrical forte resides in the art of stage management, and I plan to pursue it professionally. Before I reach that goal, however, I have been given the great opportunity to serve as a Texas State Thespian Officer. I am beyond honored to serve on the 2017 STO board, and cannot wait for the many wonderful memories ahead.”
Heather Howton will be a senior at Red Oak High School, and is the current president of troupe 7637. She loves all things singing, dancing, and acting. When she is not on stage or in rehearsals, she is usually in the dance studio or catching up on sleep. Some of her favorite roles have been Truvy in Steel Magnolias, Millie Owens in Picnic, and Ursula in The Little Mermaid Jr. She is more than ecstatic to be serving the Texas Thespians as a 2017 State Thespian Officer, and can't wait for the upcoming year!
Jena Hinton is incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to serve as a 2017-2018 State Thespian Officer for her senior year! She resides in Richmond, TX where she is the President of Troupe 7961. Jena has enjoyed many fantastic roles as an actress. Her favorites include Carla in In the Heights, Marcy in Spelling Bee, and Orangutan in Water By The Spoonful. She is excited to devote her time to making Texas Thespian Festival as wonderful as possible!
Matthew Whyte is extremely humbled to be one of your State Thespian Officers this upcoming term. He is ecstatic to work with these amazing individuals on this Board and to express his strong feelings for Theatre. He enjoys singing, acting, and occasionally wearing some leather Olukai Hawaiian flip flops. Matthew is currently a Junior at Sandra Day O’Connor High School and is Treasurer for Troupe 5872.
Natalie Shipley is thrilled to be serving her second term as an State Officer. She loves Jesus, Chacos, and playing ukulele. She spends her time in theatre designing. She is currently a senior at Austin High School and a proud member of Troupe 5448. She cannot wait to see y’all at Texas Thespian Festival 2017!
Nick Marquez is a senior in Troupe #4770 at Midway High School, and he’s beyond honored and thrilled to be serving as an STO this year. He is wholeheartedly in love with all things theatre, and feels right at home both on stage and in the wings. Some of his favorite roles include Paul in Moon Over Buffalo, Tom in Night of the Living Dead, and Rapunzel’s Prince in Into the Woods. He is super pumped for this year’s festival and hopes all Thespians, new and returning, have a blast!
Rachel Meltzer is ecstatic to serve as one of you State Thespian Officers! She's a proud member of the Woodlands High School Troupe 1053, where she gets to smile, laugh, and make a fool of herself daily! Rachel loves stage managing, making music, tea, sticky notes, and Jesus! Some of her favorite shows she's stage managed include, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Crazy For You, and The Crucible. Hey Texas Thespians! My name is Sam Snyder and I am proud to be one of your 2017 State Thespian Officers! I am a Junior at Celina High School, Troupe 7585! I've enjoyed roles as Faulkland in The Rivals, Bobby Van Husen in The Boy Friend, and most recently Randy in The Outsiders! I enjoy playing football, spending time with my Lighting Director/girlfriend Madison, and being crazy! And yes, I do love exclamation points, and no, they do not show my full excitement! Skylar Gilliam is a Stage Manager from troupe 6319 right out of Denison High School and is apart of the 2018 graduation class. She is ecstatic to be blessed with the opportunity to serve the most amazing Thespians in the world! As a returning officer, she strongly believes that the most important objective for anyone involved in the Arts is to make an experience for the audience like no other. By taking this objective to Texas Thespians, one of her goals for this year is to create an overwhelming sense of joy at festival for all Thespians to experience, rather it be the first or last, this year will be one for the books!
Zach Boylan is so thankful to be able to serve Texas Thespians as a State Thespian Officer. He is amazed at what a great organization that he is a part of. He spends most of his time acting, and he has been blessed with roles such as Vince Fontaine in Grease and Rosencrantz in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.
Zach is a Junior at Ridge Point High School, located outside of Houston, and is currently the Treasurer for Troupe 7678. Zach knows that he and his fellow STOs are going to make Festival 2017 the best experience possible!
