Guest Artists
Greetings!
Texas Thespians are excited to invite you to be a guest artist at our State Conference 2020, creating a Virtual experience for our students Texas style, Innovative and Exciting! SUPER SATURDAYS - This year's festival will take place over 4 separate Saturdays through the fall. This decision was made to help thespians arrange time to attend as much as possible while maintaining their academic school work during the week. The Festival Saturday Dates are: October 24th November 7th November 21st December 5th You must be available for all four dates. WORKSHOPS - Workshops will be presented live via Zoom in a 4 part process. Each Saturday an artist would present the next step in their process, culminating in a final product by week 4. For Example: A sewing workshop Week 1 - patterning Week 2 - cutting and pinning week 3 - sewing week 4 - hand stitching / finishing The student comes away with a finished product and information they can share with their troupe. Each workshop will have a live monitor (a troupe director) who is controlling chat and also serves to ask you questions that the students have. The nice part of this virtual concept is that you can list supplies needed in your workshop description since they will be viewing at home. Just keep it simple. Another perk of this model is that the sessions will be recorded and made available to any student who was not able to attend your session. Therefore if they miss a week for some reason, or if they started a different workshop and wanted to switch, it allows them to get caught up prior to attending the next step. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU - If selected, you would teach one session per Saturday that is 1 hour 30 minutes in length. The extended time allows for any technical difficulties and some Q&A time at the end of your session. An artist who teaches all four Saturdays will receive pay of $500. Slots are very limited. We will have around 40 artists chosen. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS - This will be a little different this year. Instead of an online form, you will submit your 4 part workshop proposal to me via email. This should be as detailed as possible and be sure to identify your target audience. We are including junior high students into this virtual experience and therefore will be creating a workshop track specifically for them. So if you would like to submit several proposals be sure to gear it towards your audience. The tracks we will have are: High School, Junior High, High School Teachers, and Junior High Teachers (they have specifically asked for sessions geared toward them ) Please choose 1 track only for each submission. Teacher focused sessions could be broken up into only 2 parts rather than 4. Once selected I will send you a link to fill out your information, title, and such. Workshop registration opens August 1, 2020. Once we have all requests, we will begin to build our workshop schedule, Artists are chosen based on need and variety of sessions, Be sure to get all requests in no later than September 15th, the FINAL deadline. Confirmation of workshop times and schedules will be sent out no later than October 5, 2020. On this date any changes or modifications are subject to the cancellation policy below. Please email proposals with descriptions to Troy Menn at troy.menn@texasthespians.org |
