The Educational Theatre Association offers a wealth of opportunities to students and teachers.
  •  It raises the profile of your Theater program!
  • The Educational Theatre Association supports educators by providing professional development, networking opportunities, resources, and recognition.
  • As a professional member, you will have access to our advocacy services. EdTA can help you talk to your administrators and school board about the importance of your program to your students and the community at large.
  • Being a part of International Thespian Society gives your school National and International recognition similar to National Junior Honor Society.
  • Teachers who are members of EdTA receive the organization’s magazines, Teaching Theatre journal, a quarterly publication, as well as Dramatics magazine.
  •  Each year in December, Dramatics puts together a directory of college theatre programs across the country, a great resource for teachers and guidance counselors trying to help juniors and seniors prepare for college or to help the aspiring Thespian find the right program.
  • EdTA also hands out many scholarships, grants and awards to educators and students every year.
  • The greatest benefit of a professional EdTA membership is becoming a part of a sprawling theater education network that is rich in experience, resources, and advice.
  • Professional members receive discounts on EdTA’s annual Conference, an excellent professional development opportunity, with graduate and Continuing Education Credit often available.
  • The International Thespian Festival  is another opportunity, for teachers to meet other professionals in their field, and a great time for students to audition for college and scholarships, see high-quality productions, attend excellent workshops, and make many new friends.
  • Each November, students from all across Texas attend the Texas State Thespian Festival, where they can audition for scholarships, participate in master classes, workshops, play marathons, and network with 7,000+ Theater and directors from across the State.
  • Students who are part of the International Thespian Society wear honor cords at graduation.
  • Thespian Troupes are service organizations, working with the National Educational Theater Association as advocates for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids and Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat.
  • Being a professional member/Troupe Director of the Educational Theater Association gives you credentials as a member of the largest theater organization in the world!
